What is the difference between a "normal" Rohloff and the Hase
version, aside from a sprocket being bolted to the spoke holes?

There are no spoke holes on the hase version of the Rohloff. It's a special case made from Rohloff made for Hase with mountings for the 2nd chainwheel instead of spoke holes.
