Pino on the train

Can anyone give some advice or experiences about taking the Pino Tour on the train? We are planning a tour which involves Eurostar, TGV (the one that takes bikes) and EC/IRE. A lot of them are saying they take bikes but not tandems.

I'm hoping that if we take off the front boom - and maybe the Stoker's seat as well - then it will be accepted just like a normal bike. Does anyone have any experience of travelling with a Pino on the trains in France and Germany?

For UK trains we generally just put a bag ove the pedals and leave some luggage bungied to the front seat

Might not work everywhere but.......
