Cracked Frame clamp (Rahmenschellenhalfte) Kettwiesel AL

My bottom seat frame tube fell out at high speed. The cause is a cracked Frame Clamp. Part # 21898. The part is plastic. I think it should be metal. I am 120lbs and ride it daily. The picture shows the cracked frame clamp with the seat tube moved to lower position. My solution is to drill thru the frame clamp and seat tube then thru bolt the parts together. I hope this holds. I am also trying to solve the problem of the seat cover straps from loosing during a ride. I stop to tighen up the seat cover straps frequently. I love riding the AL and hope to solve these irritating problems.

The Problem with the seatcover-straps is solved. The new Kettwiesels have a new seatcover which has a elastic cord-system instead of the straps.

I would recomend to order a new clamp instead of drilling through the seattube. You get the risk of a breaking seat which would be much more expensive.

Thank-you for that advise. I held off from drilling the seat tube until I heard from Hase. I did received an email telling me the frame clamp is covered under the warranty. Hopefully that will hold up. Do you know if the new seat covers will fit a 2008 Kettwiesel?

I think they do. (as long as you don't have the xxl-seat or some other special). But I also think that the new seatcover will not be cheap ;) I have the same problem. Also the new cover has better cushion at the tubes. So ask Hase to be sure and if it's worth it for you, buy it.

It turns out that I have the new seat cover with the elastic straps on the bottom. The straps on the top of the seat cover slip and have to be adjusted during every ride. Pretty annoying. I am not a heavy guy but I do drive the bike pretty hard. I am not all convinced that the frame clamp they are sending me will hold up any better that the original one. I am devising a way to hol dthe seat tubes to the frame clamp using plastic coated wire and turn buckles. I will post a picture after I receive the replacement frame clamp and get it secured.
